Anti-virus
Although you can significantly reduce your exposure to viruses by only downloading software from trusted sites, it’s always a good idea to have some anti-virus software running in the background to ensure that your system isn’t compromised. Fortunately, there are plenty of anti-virus products on the market to choose from, and we’ve collected some here.
- AVG Free – If you don’t mind the occasional pop-up asking you to upgrade to the full edition (which is where AVG make their money), this is one of the best anti-virus programs for Windows users. As well as being free of charge, it will automatically update its virus definition database at a time you specify (or when you login, if that’s after the time you set), meaning the maintenance is a breeze.
